In June and July I am looking forward to chatting with you!
All talks are online (Zoom), at 7pm SAST and last one hour. Each talk is R50.
I’ve called these talks ‘short and sweet’ because I aim to give a little bit of input and then facilitate a lot of discussion. Don’t worry, there are no expectations for participants to speak if they don’t want to, but there will be plenty of opportunities if you wish to engage with others. We’re all parents in this together, after all.
25 June: Journalling Taster
This is a little introduction to journalling—no experience necessary. If you’re curious about journalling, what it’s all about, and how you can benefit from it, then come along. You do not need to be a parent to attend this one! All are welcome.
2 July: Helping Your Child Navigate Friendships
This term in my play therapy practice, friendship issues have come up repeatedly. This short and sweet talk will focus on how to help your child build healthy friendships and support them when things are tough. Friendships are all about developing and practising social skills, so it’s safe to say it comes up for everyone and is certainly not easy to deal with.
9 July: Talking to Your Child About Their Body
This is a tough one for most parents. Have you heard the “8 is too late” campaign? It’s more relevant now than ever due to the influence of the internet on our children’s lives. This talk will focus on when and how to talk to your child about sex, their bodies, and body safety. We will discuss the PANTS rule (image above) and how to use it as a safety tool with your child.
